Sanctuary System

What sets Covell Communities apart from the competition is the method in which we build our homes.  When you first walk into one of our homes you will appreciate and experience the quality of our workmanship. Our Sanctuary System consists of a series of methods we have developed and implemented over many years of building homes.  This system allows us to build the most structurally sound, energy efficient, and comfortable home possible resulting in a low maintenance home and conservative utility costs.

  • On-Site Built Structural Framing with Cross Deck Sheathing (Exceptional Storm and Wind Resistance)
  • 2x6 Exterior Wall Construction (Deep Window Sills and Increased R-Value)
  • High Strength Galvanized Anchoring System (Hurricane Stability)
  • 7/16” OSB Wall & Roof Sheathing (Strength, Stability, and Wind Resistance)
  • “CBC” Engineered Open Web Truss System (Maximum Spam Length, Strength and Design Flexibility Allowing Large Uninterrupted Interior Spaces)
  • 3/4” Tongue and Groove OSB Subfloor (Rigid and Sound Retention)
  • Engineered Heel Cut Roof Trusses (Maximum Energy Efficiency, Superior Strength, and Increased R-Value)

Conditioned Crawl Space

Covell quality starts from the foundation. We utilize a conditioned crawlspace to create a barrier between the universal head sink (the ground) and your house. By both conditioning this space as well as finishing the space we minimize the amount moisture can seep into the area and maximize the insulating properties of the house. While counter intuitive, air conditioning the crawlspace actually decreases the cost of heating and cooling your house while adding an impressive amount of auxiliary storage space.

Integrated Brick Foundation

Brick is one of the oldest building materials but still adds great curb appeal! As with most houses these days Covell Quality homes have allot of brick on the exterior.  Unlike most homes, ours are not just veneers but actually integrated directly into the foundation.  By integrating brick into the foundation we minimize the ability for water to penetrate the crawlspace and enable the house to have a sleek flat face instead of having a bulky add on.

Interlocking Exterior Sheathing

Unlike most production builders whom order sections or panels (framed walls with plywood sheathing in one unit) and assemble on site, we follow a more traditional method.  We build our homes on site.  Unlike prefabricated panels we are able to interlock, or alternate, the exterior paneling; there by increasing the rigidity of the home, decreasing the seams by which air penetrates, and maximizing your utility savings.  This is one of the biggest contributors Covell Quality HERS Scores.

Engineered Web Truss Floor System

By using Engineered Web Truss Flooring Systems we are able to pre-plan openings in the trusses to allow for efficient and effective service runs.  All our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services have space to run so they do not infringe on your living area.  This flooring system also adds whole home rigidity while enabling you future flexibility if you want to add lights, fans, or anything else.

Raised Heel Cut Truss

Prevent ice dams and decrease your heating bills.  By utilizing a Raised Heel Cut Truss Roofing design we are able to extend the insulation in the attic all the way out over the exterior wall framing.

Insulation works by trapping air inside cavities and creating a barrier between two temperatures. A key to successful insulation is maintaining the "fluffiness" of insulation.  In a standard roofing truss there is not adequate space for the insulation to remain aloft.  This decreases the insulating abilities of the material.  In winter this may be detrimental to the house as repeated heating and cooling by the corners of the homes can lead to the formation of ice dams.  These ice dams are detrimental to the water resistance of homes.  By using a raised heel cut truss system we come as close as possible to remove the chance for ice dams to develop.

Timbertech decking material

Low Maintenance: TimberTech maintains its color and beauty for years without the work of annual painting or staining. And, because it resists mildew, warping and insects, there’s no need to replace rotting, uneven or termite-damaged boards. This saves time and money over the life of your deck. Caring for TimberTech is easier than wood and will allow you to focus on maximum enjoyment instead of maximum maintenance.
